  Literally everything was good. Not just like "good" but like "good good" yanno. I got chicken, two pieces a breast and wing, Mac and cheese and black eyed peas, which I loved, its an old tradition my grandma shared with me to eat one black eyed pea on New Years. My friend had been here before and seen I guess Ada's granddaughters twitter post about the launching of Ada's kitchen being less than anticipated and that's why I wanted to post my review. My friend mentioned usually they have a whole table of desserts but they were closing early for New Years, I got the only dessert available which was blueberry cobbler and it was AMAZING. My total was $14 and then I used a student discount and brought it down to $12. I am recommending Ada's kitchen to my friends and anyone who enjoys some southern style soul food.

  I never got to try Miss Ada's cooking over at red cross but I visited the new location today which is renamed to Ada's Kitchen. I paid $11 for a leg, thigh and two sides. The chicken tasted like rubber. The sides were I hate to say it, but they were terrible. The greens tasted like glory greens and the mac and cheese tasted like someone who tried to make them for the 1st time. I passed up on the mashed potatoes because I didnt think they were homemade with real potatoes. I am not a very good cook but I could have made this meal. I dont think I would visit again unless it was to go back and try one of the deserts. I would rather take my money and drive 20 minutes down the street to Big Mommas.

  Yesterday was my first time going and the special was Fried pork chops and broccoli casserole.   I thought the casserole was a side order but it's not so don't be confused.   This place has some amazing food despite it's bleak appearance.  I paid $8.48 for my meal consisting of mac, green beans and the single pork chop.   I was a little disappointed until I saw that it was a very thick piece of meat!   It's nice to see that Miss Ada was there although either she may have been pained or just not very friendly.   With this establishment, it is what it is and that's good eating.  Don't expect much more or less.   I thought it was cool that the hot sauce packets were RED HOT brand, it was my first time seeing that.  The macaroni was probably the most creamiest that I've ever had without being a bunch of melted cheese featuring noodles.  The green beans also had an amazing flavor and is well worth another visit back.  The pork chop is delicious as well and i appreciate that they have a selection of breads that come with the meal.   Its odd that when you walk up all the postings on the steam table are the breakfast prices and the board leading up to the area posts lunch specials at $6.  It is VERY outdated.  I didn't know how much my order was until I was signing the credit card receipt.  The temperature of the sides were great with the meat leaving more to be desired.  I assume that is because it's on the steam table and to prevent sogginess.

  Oh my goodness!   The food is absolutely great!  Old school southern cooking.  Cooking like your grandmother used to do on Sunday evenings!

  Miss Ada's is tucked away on the 2nd floor of the Red Cross building. I had never heard of it until my husband mentioned it one day, and I'm now hooked. If you're looking for the BEST homemade yeast rolls - this is your place. A full sheet of rolls (about 50) is $20. We pre-ordered them for Thanksgiving and again for Christmas.
  There is a break room across from the room where food is served, but other than that there is no seating. I have never been for breakfast, but lunch offerings are always southern style, home made comfort food options.
  If you work near the hospitals or near the UofL medical/dental buildings it is worth a try!
